How to remove and refit the Rack and Pinions in the steering gear on 1986 Audi 4000?

Use the handbrake, lift the front of the car, and place it on axle stands and then take off the roadwheels. Unscrew the tie-rods, loosen the clamp bolt that holds the flange tube in place on the rack and pinions and unscrew the hydraulic lines (where fitted). Take out the rack and pinions, refit in reverse sequence, making sure it is all correct and fine-tuned.
