- Q: How to remove and refit the front shock absorber from the suspension strut on 1985 Audi 4000?A: Prise off roadwheel cap, loosen driveshaft nut with car weighted. Loosen wheel bolts, jack and support car, remove wheel. Remove and support caliper, detach hose bracket. Disconnect balljoint and tie-rod, remove anti-roll bar, driveshaft. Press driveshaft from hub, undo strut-top nut, lower strut; refit in reverse, torque, dust damping ring.
