If the wiper blades are not making adequate contact with the windshield, you will need to adjust the contact angle of the wiper arms before fitting new blades. Put the wiper arms into the park position (off) and remove the wiper blade. One of the first steps of a windscreen wiper demounting is to place wiper arm adjusting tool (3358 8) onto the end of the wiper arm. Further more after placing secure the tool with the locking screw. First, check the angle indicated against specification. Second, use a 24mm wrench to adjust the wiper arm to specification if necessary.

Activate windshield washers and observe spray pattern. If it does not contact windshield, adjust jets. Using your choice of removable crayon or marker, measure from the washer jet to a point on the screen of about 400 mm and mark. With the assistance of a screwdriver, regulate the height of the individual washer jets such that the top of the spray conforms to the markings. Top off windshield washer reservoir using a flashlight to check fluid level and make sure it has adequate freeze protection for the area you're working in. Some fluids are use-ready and others require mixing, check the product label for details. The windshield and headlight washer receives fluid from the reservoir. To check the park position of the wipers, switch on and off the wipers to allow the arms to return to base. For first versions, check the distance between the tips of the wiper blades and the plenum chamber cover and adjust it. For later models, ensure the blades touch the marking, and check the distances given. Use the wipers again to check distances. To remove and install the wiper blades switch on and off the wipers and then fold the arm which removes a blade just turning and sliding out. Check the blades to see that they are in proper condition and ensure air deflector and curvature parts are installed to proper position. Some blades allow replacing just the rubber inserts, making them a cost-effective option. When dealing with the late versions, you go through a similar removal and installation process. Be careful not to damage it when folding the arm back on the windshield.
