Torque specifications and engine mount alignment specifications are provided as a resource in case the engine mounts need to be removed for any reason. Attach the engine support bar (Audi special tool 10-222 A) to the engine lifting eyes. Tighten the nuts on the lifting spindles so that the weight of the engine is supported by the engine support bar. Loosen the engine mount bolts enough to move the engine slightly. It may also be necessary to loosen the transmission mount bolts to provide enough movement to align the engine mount. Move the engine slightly using a large lever, ensuring both bolt heads are parallel to the edge of the support arm, with a distance of 10 - 13 mm (0.40 - 0.51 in.). Tighten the engine mount bolts to specification, then loosen the mounting bolts from the transmission mount support arm, ensuring the distance remains the same (parallel) at the top and bottom. Finally, tighten the transmission mount bolts to specification.
