- Q:How should the Intercooler and related components be removed and installed to ensure cleanliness and prevent contamination on Audi TT?A:Detach the bottom sound insulation panels, front bumper, and right or left side headlight units. Only remove the EVAP canister if you are also removing the right side intercooler. Only remove the battery and battery tray if you are also removing the left side intercooler. Unplug air hose(s) at the top of intercooler(s) and remove the connecting line between the right and left intercooler(s). Note that some mounting bolts are above the connection line. Extract the upper mounting bolts of intercooler, then remove intercooler from below. In the removal, all joints, pipe unions and connections must be degreased before the turbocharger or any related component is disconnected or reconnected. Ensure all your parts are wrapped in dust-free paper or sealed in plastic bags to avoid contamination. Never use a cloth material for covering and ensure that you do not use compressed air in the vicinity. While the turbocharger is opened or removed, do not drive the car or work in dusty conditions. Install only clean components and do not remove components from their packaging until just before installing. Modify headlights if required.
