How to disconnect the battery and remove the Air Bag Control Module from the center console on Audi A6?

Disconnect the battery negative (-) cable, then remove the front section of the center console and the connecting pieces for air ducts to the rear left and right footwell vents. For vehicles produced up to August 1999, release the retainer on connector, pull connector out of control module, remove nuts, and then remove the control module. For vehicles produced from September 1999 onward, open cable ties, remove nuts, pull out control module, release the retainer on connector, pull connector out of control module, and remove the control module. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting that if the control module is replaced, it must be coded, and if the airbag warning light remains on, erase OTC memory using VAS 5052 or equivalent.
