The seat belt anchorage points must have access to the B-pillar anchorage points, which means de-fitting the rear seat cushion and the screw that holds the inner sill trim panel together. The inner sill trim panel could be unscrewed after which the bottom of the B-pillar trim panel could be unscrewed and then the top hooked up. At the time of refitting, make sure that the height adjustment button of the car attaches itself properly with the B-pillar mechanism. One of the things to ensure is the height adjustment that the top position is occupied correctly and the adjustment button should spring out completely when it is released at any position. The rear seat cushion and backrest must also be removed and the D-pillar trim taken off and pulled upward to get access to the rear seat belt anchorages. Before removing the belt out of the slot in the panel, the seat-belt must be unbolted on the floor and the metal tabs folded and the shelf pulled forwards before unscrewing the belt. When refitting, one should not be in a hurry to fix the parts that were removed but rather have them attached in the reverse order with the anchorage bolts tightened to the agreed torque wrench settings. In the models that have Procon-Ten safety system, the front inertia reels are permanently connected to the system cable, and this means that the entire cable together with the seat belts must be removed. It involves the dismantling of the A-pillar trim, manual choke control (when present), disconnection of the cable holder at the rear of the gearbox and replacement of all the plastic guides. Performance of this work by an Audi dealer is recommended because of safety concerns due to the risks of improper installation of the system.
