Audi 80 Trunk Lid Latch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and refit the Trunk Lid Latch and lock cylinder from the boot lid on Audi 80?
    A:
Open the boot lid and remove the plastic covers from the boot lid and lock. Reach through the access holes to disconnect the operating rod from the lock and private lock cylinder. Unscrew the mounting nuts and withdraw the lock from the boot lid, recovering the packing if necessary. To remove the lock cylinder, insert the key and use a small punch to drive out the retaining pin. Remove the spacer and recover the ball and spring on models with central locking. Press out the lock cylinder and recover the sealing ring and escutcheon. Unscrew the mounting nuts, remove the washers, and withdraw the lock cylinder housing from the studs. For refitting, follow the reverse order of removal while applying a little grease to the ball beneath the spring on central locking models. Adjust the operating rod to ensure it enters the end bushes free of play without pretensioning the lock arm, releasing the sliding ring to adjust the rod length and pushing the ring firmly into position after adjustment.
