Audi 4000 Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to disconnect and remove the heater core on Audi 4000?
    A:
Disconnect the battery negative lead, drain the cooling system, and disconnect the heater hoses at the bulkhead. Detach the temperature control cable from the heater valve, then remove the central console along with the left and right trim from below the facia. Pull off the heater and fresh air control knobs, prise out the control panel, and remove the screws securing the controls. Withdraw the central facia panel after removing its screws, then disconnect and remove the air ducts from the heater. Remove the large heater retaining clip and detach the cowl from the air plenum. In the engine compartment, remove the heater mounting bolts located on either side of the motor, then lower the heater unit from inside the car, placing polythene sheeting or rags on the floor to protect the covering from any remaining water in the heater. The refitting process is the reverse of removal, but ensure the adjustment of the control cables is checked.
